The Centre's work

The Centre creates and uses knowledge to improve policing for the benefit of society. It does this problem-solving research, through informal and formal learning to support continuing professional development; the gaining of degree qualifications and PhD research. The Centre is also concerned with knowledge into practice.

The Open University Centre for Policing membership is a growing collaboration between 22 police forces and The Open University.

Government backs new pet abduction law in pet theft crackdown

A new criminal offence for pet abduction has taken a significant step forward on 19 January 2024 with the announcement of government backing for new legislation.
