Evidence Café 2: Evidence Based Practice & Collecting first accounts from children (Dorset Police)

Tuesday, May 24, 2016 - 14:00 to 17:00

Evidence Based Practice

  • This cafe focused on advancing officers’ understanding of evidence based practice, good practice and the role research can play in these areas with a focus on collecting first accounts from vulnerable witnesses. How to view the experiences and practices of frontline officers as evidence  in the context of evidence based practice.

Gathering Evidence from First Accounts

  • After a presentation of the game-based training research into collecting first accounts from children, there was a wide-ranging discussion of officers’ experiences of collecting first accounts and, for officers who were specialist in this area, of supporting frontline officers. Training was discussed; what training officers had, what training was available, what learning resources/training officers would like.

This led into an introduction to the Educational Resources on the Police Consortium website, with guidance on learning pathways for officers' continuing professional development.
